Prioritizing tasks within the weekly/monthly plan.
Making clear judgments on which issues will impact on the Section and which of these issues should be escalated.
Shut-down of any piece of equipment or plant in the event of possible serious injury or damage.
A minimum of an appropriate Trade certification of welding/Fabrication/Structural engineering.
Must have welding experience maintaining heavy mining equipment including excavator structures, rock buckets, refurbishing off highway truck bodies, fabrication and machining experience would be an advantage.
Minimum of 8-10 years’ experience in a welding maintenance role At least 5 years in a senior supervisory role in mining or other heavy equipment industry.
Must be proficient in ARC, GAS, FLUX core, MIG and TIG welding to an ISO or ASME standard.
Must have Excellent Knowledge of repair techniques, materials including GET, equipment, fabrications and welding practices.
Able to read and interpret local or OEM engineering drawings / blue prints.
Must demonstrate excellent quality controlling techniques to improve efficiency, workmanship and standard of the welding department.
The ability and drive to manage a maintenance work group in a technically challenging and geographically remote maintenance environment.
Sound planning, analytical, and problem solving skills.
Well-developed interpersonal, written and oral communication skills in English and French Oral would be an advantage.
Knowledge and understanding of diverse third world cultures and customs an advantage.

Rotation schedule 42 days on site, 21 days offsite (including travels).
