Amsterdam, Netherlands, April 2, 2015 – Nord Gold N.V. (“Nordgold” or the “Company”, LSE: NORD), the internationally diversified low-cost gold producer, is pleased to announce that it has appointed Howard Golden to the new role of Exploration Director.
Mr. Golden has over 24 years’ experience in the mining industry, across six continents. He has worked with some of the largest mining operators in the world and played a pivotal role in the discovery of the Syama, Oyu Tolgoi, Agbaou and West Musgrave ore deposits.
Most recently, Mr. Golden was the General Manager, Exploration of Rio Tinto, responsible for discovering or acquiring resources in Central and West Africa. Prior to Rio Tinto, he spent three years at Kinross Gold Corporation in Russia, where amongst other tasks, he was responsible for increasing the company’s gold reserves through the discovery, identification, acquisition, and economic evaluation of gold deposits in Russia. With this proven track record of working in Russia, West Africa, Australia and North America he has experience of leading exploration programmes in different climates, conditions and regulatory regimes. He also brings with him direct knowledge of the markets in which Nordgold is focused.
Nordgold has continued to strengthen and internationalise its senior management team in the past 18 months. The appointment of Mr. Golden follows that of Louw Smith and Philip Engelbrecht as COO and Director of Metallurgy respectively.
Mr. Golden holds a degree in Behavioural Science from the University of Utah and masters degree in Geophysics from the University of Leeds.
