London, United Kingdom, 5 October 2017 - Nord Gold SE (“Nordgold” or the “Company”) participated in the second edition of the West Africa Mining Activities Week (Semaine des activités minières d'Afrique de l'Ouest or SAMAO), 28-30 September. The international conference is one of the most important industrial events of the region, which attracts the major mining companies and institutions of West Africa. Among the conference participants was Roch Marc Christian Kaboré, the President of Burkina Faso, Ministers of Mines of Burkina Faso, Benin, Morocco and Côte d’Ivoire, the Presidents of Chamber of Mines of Burkina Faso and Morocco, representatives of the World Bank.
On 30 September the official delegation led by Aziz Rabbah, the Minister of Energy, Mines and Sustainable Development of Morocco, public officers of several African states and other high ranking officers visited Bissa-Bouly hub. The visit marks the importance of the asset, its significant contribution to the state budget.
The delegates have also recognised the huge support of Nordgold’s Bissa to the local communities, and its substantial role of a credible employer.
For the second time Nordgold organises its participation to the event, installing Company’s booth. Nordgold remains the first gold producer in Burkina Faso and one of the most important in West Africa. It traditionally sees particular interest from the visitors and market’s professionals.
The first SAMAO conference held in 2016. The launch of the conference was predicted by the growing steak of Burkina Faso and West Africa as a whole in mining market. Today Burkina is the fourth gold producer in Africa. The country strengthen its economic development, actively developing the mining sector.
