London, United Kingdom, 14 May 2018 — Nord Gold SE (Nordgold or the Company, Group), the internationally diversified gold producer, has become a corporate member of the MDRU — Mineral Deposit Research Unit of the University of British Columbia (UBC).
Through MDRU, Nordgold now has access to a wide range of international-calibre research and education programmes, resources and collaboration networks. Nordgold has already capitalised on the benefits of the partnership, through a joint project with MDRU to undertake a review of Canadian terranes that are prospective for discovery of gold deposits. There are also opportunities to collaborate with Canadian companies which hold exploration and mining permits in the country.
Working with MDRU is a great opportunity for us to develop our business. It provides us with access to a larger ‘Big Data’ approach to finding new areas for investment. We have a global database that characterises the entire planet, down to the mantle and can help us to identify areas where gold is most likely to be deposited. In addition to global data, we also have experts in Canada, Africa, South America and various regions of Russia who are contracted on a consulting basis to provide insight into targeting new projects.
