London, United Kingdom, 28 May 2018 — Nikolai Zelenski, CEO of Nordgold, the internationally diversified gold producer, was one of the keynote speakers at the Russia-Africa Business Dialogue session of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF), Russia’s leading business event held on 25 May. This forms one of the most important parts of the Forum and provides an opportunity to promote greater economic cooperation between Russia and Africa. The Dialogue brought together senior executives from the management teams of some of Russia and Africa’s biggest companies, along with representatives of international organisations and state bodies.
As a company, we are hugely proud of the strong links that we have forged with West Africa, both in the assets we have developed but also the commitments we have made to the people we have a responsibility to in the regions in which we operate. For example, a key part of that is through education — we offer programmes to the young people of Burkina Faso and Guinea ranging from vocational training such as truck driving courses, through to formal academic qualifications, such as our partnership with the University of Ouagadougou in Burkina Faso. We always look to ensure that our activities are for the benefit of all of our stakeholders.I believe our deep commitment to the sustainable development of our assets and adhering to the highest standards of social responsibility towards the local communities within which we operate, is the key to our success in the region. We continue to be a reliable employer and a major contributor of taxes to the economies of those countries where we have our mines. We will continue to do this long in to the future, as well as maintaining an open dialogue with all of our stakeholders in Africa, on both a regional and national level. Nikolai ZelenskiNordgold CEO
