London, United Kingdom, 10 December 2018 — Nord Gold SE (“Nordgold” or the “Company”), the internationally diversified gold producer, is pleased to announce that the Company’s Buryatzoloto Social Projects Сompetition has been awarded second place at the Corporate Charity Leadership 2018. The Social Projects Сompetition received second place as the “Best programme supporting the implementation of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
The Social Projects Сompetition provides support to the people and communities of the Muysky and Okynsky districts of Buryatia. As part of the Competition, the inhabitants submit their ideas detailing how it would benefit their community, with the most compelling projects receiving funding provided by Buryatzoloto. This year, the grant funded the new medical facility capable of supporting children with special needs. It also funded a children performing traditional Buryat music, the refurbishment of several playgrounds and a new puppet theater.
In 2018, 19 of the 44 submitted applications were approved by the Board, composed of representatives from the Buryatzoloto, Okinsky, and Muysky districts as well as from Buryatia regional level authorities.
