London, United Kingdom, 27 April 2020 – Nordgold SE (“Nordgold” or the “Company”), the internationally diversified gold producer, has started large-scale COVID-19 testing at its mines.
To date, 282 employees have been tested at the Holba mine in Russia with zero cases being diagnosed. Meanwhile, at Nordgold’s other mines in Russia, all incoming rotational staff will be tested prior to arrival onsite.
Notably, 1350 COVID-19 test kits have been delivered to the Lefa mine in Guinea. Equally, tests for employees and contractors at the company’s mines in Burkina Faso have been purchased and are expected to be delivered to the respective sites shortly.
In Kazakhstan, testing of the Suzdal mine employees will start as soon as the local laboratory receives necessary tests and reagents.
Employee testing alongside other preventative measures to help mitigate the spread of COVID-19 should significantly reduce the risk of infection and enable business to continue undisrupted. Nikolai ZelenskiCEO of Nordgold
